Pvt. Victor R. Michelli

In the midst of snow storms and blinding gales, the 168 ^th Infantry Regiment of the 34 ^th Infantry Division was assisting the 135 ^th Inf. assault Mt.Chiaia Italy,  which was heavily defended with machine guns and mortars. The 168 ^th had already occupied two hills to the north of Mt Chiaia and were clearing stone-built houses on the slopes of the steep hills. It was during this intense battle on Jan 7 ^th 1944 that Pvt. Victor Michelli was mortally wounded.

Pvt. Victor R. Michelli was laid to rest at the Sicily-Rome American Cemetery Plot C Row 6 Grave 26 in Nettuno, Italy.
