The County Engineer, in cooperation with the County Commissioners, is responsible for the maintenance, repair, widening, resurfacing, and re(construction), of 264.44 miles of roadways and 138 (?) bridges in the Harrison County Highway System. Maintenance duties include striping, signage, mowing, brush cutting, ditching, bridge and culvert replacements, safety projects and snow removal.
The County Engineer serves as an advisor to the Township Trustees for the maintenance, repair, widening, resurfacing, and reconstruction of township highways. The County Engineer is responsible for the bridges on both the county and township highway systems.
Additional duties of the Harrison County Engineer include serving as the County’s floodplain manager. The Engineer's Office is also responsible for maintaining survey records for Harrison County Tax Maps.
