The idea is brought about.
1988
$140,000 came into the project from the state budget.
1994
5/15- The museum opens.
7/12- Jim Massie from the Columbus Dispatch interviewed two of the museum volunteers and took pictures of the museum for an article.
September- Bob Ford presents "Ol King Coal" in the Coal Museum theatre. It ends up being a big hit with young and old people both.
December- One of the first groups of school children, of which there would be many more, tour the Coal Museum.
1995
2/8- An engineer from Germany comes to the area to study local coal shovels. On his trip, he visits the coal museum, and watches some videos about the coal mining in the area.
February- A reporter from the Akron Beacon Journal wrote a large article about the Cadiz area, but mostly about Clark Gable and the Coal Museum.
March- The new sign, which can be seen today, is hung outside the Coal Museum.
April- Evening Magazine did a segment about the Coal Museum on one of their shows.
The Ohio Historical Society rep comes, and inspects the Coal Museum. Everything gets high marks.
September- The
display for "Big George", a dragline shovel, was started.
